Frequently asked questions about Spring mattress Singapore
A spring mattress (also known as a pocket spring mattress or coil mattress) is a type of mattress that uses a system of metal coil springs as its main support layer. In a pocket spring mattress, each spring is individually wrapped, allowing it to move independently and contour to your body shape. This helps provide better spinal support, pressure relief, and reduced motion transfer for a more comfortable sleep experience.

Spring mattresses are well-suited for Singapore’s hot and humid climate because their open-coil structure promotes better airflow throughout the mattress. This improved ventilation helps dissipate body heat and moisture more effectively, keeping the sleeping surface cooler and more comfortable at night. The best spring mattress in Singapore depends on your sleep position, firmness preference, and budget. Key factors to consider include:
- Spring Type: Pocket spring (individually wrapped) mattresses provide better motion isolation and personalised support than Bonnell spring (interconnected coil) mattresses.
- Firmness: Side sleepers generally prefer a plush or medium mattress; back and stomach sleepers benefit from a firm mattress.
- Coil Count: A higher coil count (600–1,000 coils) indicates denser spring coverage and better support distribution.
- Warranty: Look for a minimum 10-year warranty, which is the Singapore market standard.
- Delivery: Confirm free local delivery is included.
The Epitex SleepTec Embrace Collection is a premium pocket spring mattress available in both Plush, Medium & Firm, with a 10-year warranty and free delivery across Singapore.

This question is worth understanding before you invest in a new mattress. The main difference comes down to how the springs are connected, and it matters more than you might think.
A pocket spring mattress has individually wrapped coils, each one moving on its own. So when you shift position, only the springs directly beneath you respond the rest of the mattress stays undisturbed. For couples especially, this is a game-changer. No more feeling every toss and turn from the other side of the bed.
A Bonnell spring mattress works differently. The coils are all connected, which means movement travels across the mattress. It's a simpler, older system and while it gets the job done, it offers less personalised support and tends to wear out faster over time.
For most sleepers in Singapore particularly couples or those who move around during the night a pocket spring mattress is the more comfortable, more durable choice. It contours better to your body, supports your spine more thoughtfully, and simply holds up longer.
If you're looking for a pocket spring mattress that delivers on all of this, the Sleeptec Embrace Collection is a wonderful place to start. Thoughtfully designed with quality you can feel from the first night.

Honestly, there's no universally "best" firmness it really comes down to how you sleep. Here's a simple way to think about it.
If you're a side sleeper, a plush or softer mattress tends to work best. The extra give allows your shoulder and hip to sink in just enough to keep your spine in a natural, comfortable alignment. Lighter sleepers generally those under 70kg often find plush mattresses particularly comfortable too.
If you sleep on your back or stomach, a firmer surface is usually the better choice. It keeps your hips and lower back from sinking too deeply, which helps maintain proper spinal support through the night. A firm mattress is also generally recommended for heavier sleepers above 90kg, or anyone dealing with lower back discomfort.
Not sure which camp you fall into? You're probably a combination sleeper and medium firm is your sweet spot. It's the most forgiving option for those who naturally shift positions during the night, offering a balance of cushioning and support without compromising either.
The good news is that the Sleeptec Embrace Collection takes the guesswork out of it. Available in Plush, Medium and Firm variants, you can choose exactly the feel that suits your body and sleep style so you're not settling for something close, you're getting what's right for you.

A quality pocket spring mattress typically lasts 8 to 12 years with proper care. In Singapore's humid climate, a few additional care steps can extend mattress lifespan:
- Use a mattress protector to prevent moisture and sweat absorption into the springs and foam layers.
- Rotate the mattress 180 degrees every 3 to 6 months to distribute wear evenly.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the room run aircon or a fan to reduce humidity around the mattress.
- Avoid jumping or placing heavy objects on the mattress edges, which can deform the spring system.
The Epitex SleepTec Embrace spring mattress is covered by a 10-year warranty - the standard warranty for quality spring mattresses sold in Singapore.

Yes in general, pocket spring mattresses sleep cooler than memory foam mattresses in Singapore's climate. Here is why: Memory foam is a dense, closed-cell material that absorbs and retains body heat. In a hot and humid environment like Singapore, this can cause overheating during sleep. Pocket spring mattresses have an open-coil structure with air gaps between the springs. This structure promotes natural airflow through the mattress, allowing heat to dissipate rather than accumulate. Independent thermal testing shows spring mattresses transfer heat more effectively than foam alternatives. For Singapore residents who sleep without air conditioning, a spring mattress is generally the cooler and more comfortable choice.

Yes - a quality pocket spring mattress can help relieve and prevent back pain for many sleepers. The key is choosing the correct firmness: For lower back pain: A medium-firm spring mattress is most frequently recommended by physiotherapists and sleep specialists. It provides adequate lumbar support without being so hard that it creates pressure points at the hips and shoulders. Pocket spring mattresses are particularly effective for back pain because the individually wrapped coils conform to the body's natural curves, supporting the lumbar region without forcing the spine into an unnatural alignment. Note: If you experience severe or chronic back pain, consult a physiotherapist before choosing a mattress firmness.
